Benediction for the Uncertain
Let trans mean
translucent—like rain
sheening down a glass
window where all that can be
seen is a boy standing
in a fog.
Let a woman be
a woman except when
she is not, despite
their womb not
belonging to a woman
but to they.
Let linen be
the wish they make in the wind
blowing opposite
the direction they intend.
Where do wishes blow anyway?
Let nebulous and liminal be
prayers murmured in mist
for the woman
for the boy
for the womb
for the rain
Let ambiguous mean
yes. Let obscurity reign.
